My Birthday – A Homecoming

“Are you from Chattanooga?”

The checkout lady pointed at my shirt. I forgot I was wearing my Chattanooga, TN shirt In Oklahoma City.

“Yes, well, I was born and raised in Chattanooga, but I live in Nashville now.”

The lady smiled. “I love Chattanooga…” and went on at length of her last trip there and her wish to go back. “I like Nashville too, of course, but I love Chattanooga.” Those were her parting words. I’ve had similar conversations in Kentucky, Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, and Florida.

My birthday was this week and part of the celebration occurred during my kids’ spring break. Where did I want to go? Chattanooga. It’s a relatively easy two hours and I can see my parents, sister, aunt and my step-daughter who goes to my alma mater, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. (UTC) Go, Mocs!

Here are some photos of our trip.

Walnut Street Pedestrian Bridge, view from Coolidge Park.
My kids by the river. 2 kids out of 4.
